With it finally starting to cool down and us working our way through the first semester fall is upon us. If you are anything like me you are obsessed with fall for a few reasons; the weather is perfect, football season is back, and Starbucks has the best drinks this time of year; my personal favorite is the PSL, formally known as the Pumpkin Spice Latte. However, I think one of the most exciting things about fall is all the different trends and ways to accessorize yourself this season.
A common theme I noticed when examining different accessories is the desire to not
only be practical but also feminine. There is no longer a reason to suffer for the sake of fashion; furthermore, fall this year is all about being comfortable, classic, and cool. Similar to Winter 2022 chunky plaid scarves in all different colorways are a great addition to any outfit this season. Whether you accompany your scarf over an oversized trench coat or make your scarf the focal point, wearing it draped over your shoulders across your chest, being all wrapped up and cozy this time of year is extremely chic.
Elements of ballet core, especially footwear are also extremely popular this season. The ballet flat is making a comeback, however, this style of shoe is looking a little different than the pair you had in 2011. “Naked shoes” were trending during spring/summer 2023 shows with ballet flats all over the runway. Now it seems like ballet flats are here to stay with styles being made in all sorts of varieties including exposed heels, pointed and square toe, and even metallic finishing. Ballet flats are not only super comfortable but can be worn with absolutely anything; making the shoe an extremely versatile and fashionable addition to any look this time of year.
Much to my surprise Red is the color of Fall 2023. In contrast to the previous seasons
where muted browns, beiges, and greens were trending red is all people seem to be talking
about and wearing. Different tones of red bring such a feminine and flirty aspect to a look that I cannot get enough of. Despite monochromatic looks trending I think the perfect way to do red this season is with a vibrant handbag or belt. This vibrant hue is the punch every good outfit needs, and don’t worry red is a forever classic that will not be going out of style anytime soon.
There is nothing quite like this time of year. The air is cooler, the music is louder, and the clothes are just better. Getting dressed this season is fun, especially when you prioritize accessorizing to elevate a simple outfit. All of these trending accessories embody what fall means to me; comfortability, femininity, and most importantly individuality.
